Update from Samaritans Purse re: Hurricane Irma

An update from Samaritan’s Purse re: their work in the Caribbean in response to Hurricane Irma.

On a personal note, one of my best friends from my youth group growing up is currently in the Caribbean with SP overseeing their work there, please pray for his safety!

Thanks, Emma

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to help those in desperate need following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean.

Irma, the most powerful Atlantic storm in a decade, ripped apart more than 90% of buildings on Antigua and Barbuda, and then pelted St Martin and Anguilla with wind speeds of up to 185mph. All this with yet another major hurricane brewing just days behind.

Right now our DC-8 aircraft is fully loaded and ready to leave as soon as officials can clear runways for supplies to land. We expect that it will be leaving within the next 24 hours – loaded with enough supplies to initially meet the needs of at least 12,000 people.

We want to be sending daily flights, full of critically needed supplies to help those throughout the worst hit areas of the Caribbean.

Trained Disaster Response staff and volunteers are standing by to deploy, who, alongside Church Partners in the area, will do all they can to bring hope to those suffering.

Please stand with us in Prayer for those people in Hurricane Irma’s path and for our teams as they respond to those who have already lost everything. We need your help – any gift will enable us to bring hope through Jesus Christ.
