One of the children at Ebenezer Grace orphanage in Ethiopia, Oliyad, is today in Addis Ababa receiving reconstructive bowel surgery. Oliyad was born with Hirschsprung Disease, a congenital bowel condition that means nerve cells in his colon didn’t form properly. Oliyad is unable to pass stools well, and was actually hospitalised whilst we were recently in Ethiopia as a result.
There has been some uncertainty as to whether he could have this complex surgery in country, and there was talk of flying him to the States for this operation. Doctors in Addis are now confident they can successfully operate and he is due to have surgery today.
Please pray that there will be no delays, that the surgery will be successful and that Oliyad will make a full and speedy recovery.
